Some comebacks don’t make the headlines, but they change a team’s balance. Killian Tillie returning to the Carpena court is one of them. The French forward, who spent several weeks away from the court due to injury, is back in training and has already logged quality minutes in Unicaja’s latest games.
His unique profile in the squad—a perimeter shooter who can play two positions, a solid defender, and excellent in the pick-and-pop—was exactly what Ibon Navarro’s team had been missing when opponents ramped up the defensive pressure.
“It’s like getting a new player back,” said a member of the green-and-black coaching staff, who asked not to be named. Tillie adds a different dimension that creates space and frees up the playmakers.
With the final stretch of the season in sight, and with goals in the BCL and the Liga Endesa on the horizon, Unicaja welcomes every available player. Tillie is back at just the right time to make a difference.
